My Life With Wendy's

I am Rhiannon Worman and I grew up in Pennsylvannia outside Philadelphia and now I reside on the Northside of Valparaiso, Indiana. I am currently a first year graduate student at Valparaiso Univiersity. I graduated from VU with a bachelors in Geography with an American Indian Studies and Environmental Studies minors in August of 2004. As from the title I work at Wendy's Trak Two in Hobart, Indiana and this is going to be a little adventure into the otherside of Wendy's!

My life at Wendy's began simply. It was January 2001 and I was a freshman at Valparaiso University. I closed on a regular basis, except for nights when I would have a track meet. Then one summer after the Jamboree concert in Chicago, my "constant nagging" and hard work paid off, and I became a manager!

A Shift Manager in training that is what I was in the summer of 2002. The training was rigorous and full of new challenges to face. I enjoyed working with the crew most, and still do, as well as increasing my knowledge in how the fast food industry worked. By May of 2003 I had already completed my basics manager classes in South Bend, Indiana as well as Assistant Manager classes. I was well on my way to taking the next step in the company.

While working at Wendy's I also worked on graduating from college. In the Summer of 2003 I took a Sabbatical and interned with HONOR on the St. Croix Indian Reservation. I returned to Wendy's in the fall, now a senior in College and the Executive Vice President of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. My goals were still high despite the work load at school. I continued to work as the crew trainer and primarily as a closing Shift Manager. 2003 actually brought some rewards to Trak One (Wendy's on HWY30 in Valpo): We became Sparkle certified and became a Phase One Training Store, both top honors in the Wendy's industry.

With these honors we, Wendy's management team were able to celebrate in activities inside and outside of work. We held Christmas parties for the crew of Trak One and Trak Two, along with various trips to baseball games, and more. I personally was able to go on the Vegas One trip in April of 2004. Lets just say that even if you are with fellow managers, including your boss, one must still remember "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!" Shortly there after, I was transfered to our other store, Trak Two, in Hobart to make use of my skills in a more challenging work environment. It has been but, I am sticking to my guns and continually working with the crew to train and teach them new things about Wendy's.

One of the greatest things that I have done so far with the company was actually with my boss, Tim Krueger. He and I along with Jason Baldwin and Dana Snodgrass, went sky diving with Sky Dive Chicago in June! What an unbelievable thrill ride it was from 15,000 feet in the air! Today I am still with Trak Two, but with the hint that I will be returning to Trak One sometime in October to work and be further trained on the administrative side of the company.

You can have fun at work, just look at what I have done with fast food! Oh and don't think that there cannot be a tale of love or romance behind Wendy's, just ask me about Tony Renicker! Let's just say that persisitance does pay off.
