1. LARIAT: Laramie Internet Access and Teleco
2. LARIAT
3. This place serves the area of Laramie, Wyoming.
4.The website provides wireless Internet access to the people of Laramie, Wyoming. It allows users to “cut the cord”
5. The sponsors of this webpage are FreeBSD, as well as the Laramie Telecommunications group.
6. It appears as though the website is both paid staff through FreeBSD as well as volunteers through the Laramie Network.
7. The service that this website provides is trying to give wireless Internet to the people of Laramie at an extremely cheap rate. There was an e-mail address to one person on the network; this address was a hyperlink to Brett, right off the homepage. Again, This website says that it sponsors a sister site for Lariat, but when you clicked the link, it said the website was currently under construction. On the main page of the Laramie.net homepage, there were several other links to other sites, such as FAQ’s, a wireless “hotspot” service, hosting, and a website set up to help you design wireless networks.
8. This website did not provide adequate information for the town of Laramie at all. Rather it just “fluffed” their reputation as being the first wireless Internet providers and has been doing it for 18 years,
9. It provides a sense of place, as it appeared to me at least, for people looking to expand on their Internet speed and such. The webpage to the Town of Laramie was under construction, but it said it was for the Internet Users Group.
10. The only thing I found interesting about this page was that they had been doing it for 18 years and they were the first wireless Internet providers. The website tells you that on the homepage, which is Hyperlinked above.
1. GroveNet
2. GroveNet
3. The area serves Forest Grove, Cornelius, Banks, Gaston, and Western Washington County.
4. GroveNet is a cooperative project designed to bring you useful information about the people, the environment, commerce, and cultural richness we all share in our scenic little corner of the Pacific Northwest.
5. The website is sponsored by EasyStreet Online Services Inc.
6. The website appears to be run by a paid staff of EasyStreet, which runs networks for the Pacific Northwest.
7. The services of GroveNet are free. Some of the services that are included are a web mail group; it has access to the Board of Directors, the bylaws of the community, and has links to each of the individual community groups like Forest Grove. In the Forest Grove link there was links to things like the history of the town, the weather, the local schools webpage, and even links to the local theatre and a movie guide.
8. The local information the network provides is a brief paragraph about each of the towns, unless the town has there town has a separate webpage, which would be linked from the homepage. Even in this little paragraph the town will be linked to the schools as well as the Merchants association, and a history of the town. They all have the similar designs for each of the little towns in the GroveNet area.
9. This area provides a place where people of this Pacific Northwest community can come together and share thoughts, look up laws, find out who to talk to about things in the community, and even find movie times. Uniqueness of History and Geography.
10. The thing that I found interesting was the way that the GroveNet website provided links to other towns and counties in the Pacific Northwest. This was unique because of the whole bond of the region is linked. I found this quite cool.
